we are all victims. every day we die little by little. it's not our choice. but only an exigous number of us will be martyrs. it's the choice to die for our one's ideals, for our one's opinions, for our own belief. from abel to zechariah, through the centuries, the martyrdom is the hidden voice of our sensible consciences, yearning the evocative freedom. first ever collaboration between akifumi nakajima's famous aubeproject and italian industrial legend maurizio bianchi. "junkyo" ( "martyrdom" ) takes excessive, tortuous power-electronics to the next level, delivering sheer, white-out walls of noise and complex layered industrial for the discerning fan. four exclusive tracks running for nearly 70 minutes, "junkyo" comes presented in a special 'soft-case' and a strictly limited edition of 1000 copies only. the collaborative works by akifumi nakajima (aube) and maurizio bianchi (m.b.). junkyo means martyrdom (torture and execution of a martyr; persecution of a person for their faith). the music on this release ranges from delicate, swirling, ambient electronics with slowly emerging percussion to more sinister, repetitive electronic pieces. quite dark and oppressive throughout with a distinct japanese feel. presented in a clamshell case with insert. very nice collaborative piece.

(paralax records) a magnetotherapeutic leakage bridled in the impartial passivity of our univocal meditations the second haemodialysis generated by maurizio bianchi and akifumi nakajima, announces the new era of untamed audio-inflammation. both operators have sharpened their pathologist scalpels to intoxicate the aural hemisphere with rhizospheric microorganisms and mononuclear blood-cells. inside the parasite plasmodium of mectpyo saisei the clinical rhythm-impulses by aube and septic piano-fragments by m.b. form the intransigent symbiosis. from carnal deterioration in its complete neuropsychological disorder to metamorphic humus fermented and putrefied by pathogenic slag we enter the cirrhotic carnage-lava of m.blut. this cd, divided into six sections and published on the japanese parallax-label, will be the final genesis of necrobiotic industriousness. siegmar fricke

(afe records) since the beginning of his venture man tried to have time under his control. he measured it with his body, according to nature, according to planets and stars and with machines. in our travel to modernity we tore the cyclic time away from nature. we chopped it in little pieces, pulled it in a straight line pointing towards infinity and in the meantime we splitted it in ever smaller measure units.

legendary italian avant-noise legend m.b. and land use collaborate on dramatic, subterranean wall-of-noise constructions and swirling textural storms, dense and complex arrangements, shifting and shimmering tones barely under control, streaming toward some distant and indefineable precipice. not noisy, but way too tense and corrosive to be called ambient. these vibrant monoliths of sound shift the listeners pysche into a restless sort of zen, a blissful chaos - truly mind and mood-altering. bianchi released early records on whitehouse's come org. label and has been active since the 1970's. and a recent and conspicuous absence from the experimental music world has been broken by several recent releases of surprising freshness and relevance. it is unclear where mb leaves off and land use begins but psychoneurose is definitely a clear and brilliant return to early mb techniques with several refinements in delivery and focus. psychoneurose will be the clear weapon of choice for those who prefer their ambience with teeth and their power-electronics with more of the deep, vaster textures than violence.

the italian master of avant-garde noise released a new cd and this time it is a collaboration between him and the dutch land use three long tracks, 21, 25 and 16 minutes playing time, describe the power of the sound as trigger to the psyche. relaxing ambience, complex noises and atonal 'constructions' are exchanged and create a thrillingly intriguing and inspiring audioscape. 'cerebrum' is a track which reminds a bit on how things would sound if anenzephalia would be more ambient oriented, combined with slight swedish influences from camp coldmeat. 'neurotropismo' is more something for the admirers of the somewhat massive piece (think merzbow). but the track that really dots this releases 'i' must be 'frequenz n', a drone so filled with layers and filter modulations that it keeps on surprising, no matter how often you've played it before. the fact that m.b. is a good composer most people who have their roots in noise avant-garde already knew, but that fact that land use is a name we'll have to remember in the near future has been this releases revelation. now all we can do is wait for the firstborn under his own name.

not just one voice from the past, but two. the resurrection of maurizio bianchi has been noted before. not just about everything he ever did is being re-issued on cd or lp, but he's also producing much new work, and much to my surprise in collaboration with others. how this works, i am not sure. but if we see that this is produced in wilhelmshaven, i gather it's more a fricke production than bianchi. but perhaps bianchi likes to travel these days? siegmar fricke released a bunch of synthi pop like tapes in the eighties, did an ultra serious and ultra long in the making cd and book with giancarlo toniutti and then disappeared, at least from this perspective.


i tried reading the liner notes of this release, but medical english is always a bit difficult. as long as the musicians understand it themselves, me thinks. so i didn't hear much from fricke in the last decade or so, but bianchi's return to the music wasn't always well spend on me. too light hearted ambient music, with a n od too much towards new age. so i started to listen with some reservation, but i was pleasantly surprised by these four lengthy exercises in tone and change. there are hints of the old bianchi, but less lo-fi and without the harshness of some of the earlier work. the music is smeared together with an extended use of sound effects which are responsible for creating the changes in the sound. the ambient element of lately is still a present feature, but the whole breaths alien worlds, decay, darkness and other less pleasant things. the tracks are long but one never has the idea that they are too long or that they collapse under their own weight. there is always an escape route to another alley, where new sound effects drop in. this makes this into a most powerful ambient-industrial release. and a call for me!
